Hands-On History Experiences

The Milwaukee County Historical Society offers a variety of educational experiences for students of all ages. From a historic house, to a 160-year-old farm, to a downtown museum full of historic items and documents, there are many ways your class can enjoy learning about history.

Downtown Museum & Archives 

The Society’s downtown museum, located on Old World Third Street next to Pere Marquette Park, offers custom programs for all ages.


Includes introduction to the building, a visit to our Library and Archives, and a behind the scenes collection tour. Cost: $5 per student.

Education Program
: All about Milwaukee

  • Founding of Milwaukee
  • Milwaukee’s ethnic neighborhoods,
  • Milwaukee businesses past and present
  • A customized behind the scenes tour

Cost: $7 per student

Exhibit-related Programs may be available based on the time of year.

Trimborn Farm, Greendale

Trimborn Farm is more than 160 years old and has nine historic structures to be explored. Our daily program is geared for 3rd to 5th grade students though other custom programs can be offered.

Participants are offered the chance to:

  • Experience farm chores
  • Make butter
  • Visit two historic homes
  • Explore the stables/barns
Learn historic games

$5 per student
